1900: Red Cross Hospital opens in Sofia (predecessor of N.I. Pirogov Emergency Hospital, established 1951).

1975: Diplomatic relations established with Angola (Bulgarian Embassy in Luanda closed down in 2010).

1992: Parliament votes down new government nominated by Prime Minister Filip Dimitrov, after his previous Cabinet loses vote of confidence on October 28.

1993: Association of Bulgarian Book Publishers is set up (renamed Bulgarian Book Association in 2004).

1996: Supreme Judicial Council constitutes Supreme Court of Cassation and Supreme Administrative Court.

2002: In Strasbourg, European Parliament sets January 1, 2007, as date of Bulgaria's and Romania's accession to EU.
