Taking a question about Tuesday's meeting with representatives of protesting miners and energy workers in Parliament, Vice President Iliana Iotova said: “I hope that the incumbent government will be frank and candid with protesters. Enough with the lies.” Iotova added that she does not know what the outcome of this meeting will be. She expressed the hope that an agreement will be reached, the protesters will be heard, and collisions will be avoided.
“You see that the news of approved or rejected projects by the European Commission changes every day. It transpired today that there will be a battery plant, albeit with reduced funding,” Iotova said. She raised the question why a proton therapy centre project, which she described as the most important one considering it is for ill children, was dropped.
Iotova took part in an event marking the 135th anniversary of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia in Bulgaria Hall on Tuesday.
