Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel is visiting Ankara on Tuesday at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said.
Gabriel's schedule also includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkiye.
In a Facebook post after a meeting in July, Gabriel thanked Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Aylin Sekizkok for the invitation for an official visit to Ankara, noting that the discussion focused on topics related to bilateral relations and European policy.
Bulgaria and Turkiye have developed traditional relations of good-neighbourliness. The Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness, Cooperation and Security, signed on May 6, 1992, is the founding document for relations between the two countries.
