Violeta Lorer, wife of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria MP Daniel Lorer, has withdrawn her nomination for a member of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Board of Directors from the new Bulgarian government, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev told reporters on Wednesday. Vassilev specified that Violeta Lorer withdrew the nomination of her own accord, because she did not want to make a big fuss or harm Bulgaria. The new nomination is now Finance Ministry Director Gergana Beremska.

Commenting on GERB's reaction to Lorer's nomination, who said "such miscommunication between partners cannot be tolerated" on Tuesday, Vassilev called it "much ado about nothing". He described it as blown out of proportion and suggested that both his "colleagues from GERB" and the media were to blame for misunderstanding the situation.

According to the Finance Minister, these positions have to be renewed by Friday, as they have always been filled either by an advisor to a minister or by the head of a directorate. Vassilev also said that this is not about a position that EIB Vice-President Lilyana Pavlova holds, which is Bulgaria's real position in the Bank, but it is about a position that does not have a salary from the bank, which has to accept statements of accounts four times a year.

The Minister shared his observance that plenty of MPs' significant others have jobs for the state administration.
