The National Assembly on Friday amended on second reading the Forestry Act. The final texts, shaped by the MPs after almost an hour of debates, united parts of the three originally submitted bills: by Desislava Taneva of GERB-UDF, Ivan Ivanov of BSP for Bulgaria and Ivan Hristanov of Continue the Change.

The aim of the proposed changes is to create conditions for publicity and transparency of the procedures for the supply of firewood to the local population, and to reduce the risk of abuse by giving citizens the opportunity to make informed decisions, it became known during the discussion in the plenary hall.

Several additional proposals were submitted between the first and second readings, but many of them fell outside the scope of the bill and were rejected or withdrawn.
