The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued an orange code for the scorching temperatures in vast parts of the country for Saturday. The code applies to Northern, Southern Bulgaria, and for the Southwest.

A yellow code due to the hot weather has been issued for the regions of Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, Sofia City, Sofia, and Pernik, as well as for parts of Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Vidin, Montana, Lovech, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, and Sliven.

According to the NIMH forecast, it will remain hot with maximum temperatures ranging between 33 and 38C, and around 33C in Sofia.

Sofia Municipality continues its initiative to distribute free bottled water to residents and visitors to Sofia over the weekend due to the expected high temperatures, the Municipality reportced on Facebook.

Over the weekend, the distribution point near the entrance to the National Palace of Culture will be open from noon. On Monday, the initiative will continue from noon until stocks run out. Water will be distributed outside Sofia University, at Serdika metro station and by the National Palace of Culture entrance.
