The Constitutional Court has opened proceedings following a request by the Ombudsman to review the constitutionality of provisions in the Transitional and Final Provisions of the State Budget Act of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2026, on the grounds that they are inconsistent with the principles of the rule of law and the social state, the Court's press office announced.

The provisions are related to a freeze of the minimum wage and hours-based calculation of the length of service based.

Justice Sonya Yankulova has been appointed rapporteur in the case. The Court will now decide whether to admit the case for consideration on its merits.
