The spa centre at Ensana Aquahouse Hotel in the Sts. Constantine and Helena resort near Varna, on the Black Sea, is developing new anti-stress programmes, spa manager Nikolay Popov told BTA. The services are used mainly by working people who need mental recovery.

The programmes target to reduce chronic stress levels, Popov added. Daily life has become increasingly fast-paced for many people, which leads to an accumulation of mental tension. When the mind is overloaded and there is a lack of physical activity, this sets the stage for degenerative processes in the body. Young people in particular are becoming aware of these risks and are seeking ways to recover, he added.

The spa centre's services are popular with people of all ages. Even very young individuals at the beginning of their career path and development are looking for anti-stress therapies, as they are under significant pressure to prove themselves in an increasingly competitive and dynamic environment, the manager said.

The programmes are developed with an individual approach, so that the guests will continue to follow them even after their stay ends.

Mineral water helps greatly in reducing tension and affects the body on several levels. Skin receptors send signals to the central nervous system to relax and be less hyperactive, the manager added. As a result, heart rate slows down, blood pressure decreases, and the overall effect is highly beneficial, including on a mental level.

Since the end of 2025, Ensana Aquahouse has also been offering a special programme for underwater kinesitherapy, aimed at restoring lost or temporarily impaired physical function. The programme is intended for people who have undergone surgery, joint replacement, or who suffer from neurodegenerative conditions or temporary loss of movement and coordination. The exercises are conducted by a kinesitherapist who actively guides, supports, and assists the movements, Popov said.

BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe's leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts. Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands, and Albena. BTA will be the event's main media partner.
