The spa centre at the Olymp Spa Hotel in Velingrad is the only one in the city to offer bioenergetic massage with silver thread gloves, spa centre manager Gergana Popova told BTA.
She said that this is a new technology combined with traditional Chinese medicine that has a beneficial effect on internal organs and the musculoskeletal system.
The procedure is called "New Approach to Health" and it is a holistic therapy that cleans the emotional, meridian, and biochemical imbalances, characteristic of modern lifestyles. The centre employs visiting certified therapist specializing in applied kinesiology.
Popova added that the complex also offers a therapy with paraffin gloves and boots, which serves both as a therapeutic and cosmetic treatment. It is beneficial for joint disorders, while also making the skin on the hands and feet very soft and nourished.
The spa centre is open daily, year-round, and operates at full capacity, with treatments available throughout the week. Two-thirds of visitors are Bulgarians, while the remaining guests are foreigners. The centre has been in operation for 21 years, it was last renovated two years ago, and another renovation has been planned, Popova said.
The Olymp Hotel was rated the best four-star eco and spa hotel on the Balkans for 2025, the hotel’s marketing manager Anna Kostova told BTA.
All customer service processes are electronic. The restaurant uses electronic menus, and orders are placed via QR codes. The lobby bar is served by a robot waiter. As an eco-hotel, cleaning is done with mainly steam-based machines to avoid the use of chemical products, and pool cleaning is automated, Kostova said.
BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200.
