BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.
Erol Mehmed is the top-of-the-list candidate of Alliance for Rights and Freedoms for Kardzhali’s 9th multi-member constituency for the early parliamentary elections on April 19, the coalition said on registering the list with the Constituency Election Commission.
Erol Mehmed was born in 1973 in Momchilgrad. He holds a master’s degree in Bulgarian Language and History from Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. Over the years he has held various managerial posts in the administration of Momchilgrad Municipality and was deputy mayor in 2003-2017. He has chaired various municipal commissions and served as manager of numerous projects, the coalition said.
He has also been part of the Regional Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues under the regional governor of Kardzhali Region. He has performed the functions of chair of the Local Commission for Combating Juvenile Delinquency in Momchilgrad Municipality and of the Consultative Council on Tourism in the municipality, among many other roles.
He was a member of the 44th National Assembly from Kardzhali’s 9th constituency. As an MP, he served on the Committee on Labour, Social and Demographic Policy and on the Committee on Education and Science, where he was deputy chair.
