On Wednesday, at the Palace of Justice in Sofia, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov met with Shalom Organization of Jews in Bulgaria Chair Dr. Alina Levi, Central Israeli Spiritual Council Chair Maxim Delchev, Zionists Federation of Bulgaria Chair Nikolay Galabov, the Director of the Office of the American Jewish Committee for Bulgaria, Viktor Melamed, and the Director of the Rohr Chabad Jewish Community Centre in Bulgaria, Rabbi Yosef Salamon, at their request on the occasion of the Jewish religious holiday of Passover (Pesach), the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria announced.

During the talks, issues related to countering radicalization, xenophobia, and any manifestations aimed at sowing division and intolerance in society were discussed.

In a time of tension and military conflicts around the world, an uncompromising stance against hate speech, anti-Semitism, and violence is of particular importance to modern society. Achieving this is a guarantee of citizens’ rights and freedoms, justice, and humanism, the participants in the meeting stated.

Prosecutor General Sarafov reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to zero tolerance for hate crimes and assured that the prosecution service makes daily efforts, within the powers granted to it by law, to prevent anti-democratic manifestations in society and to promote values such as understanding and tolerance, the statement said.
