The Ministry of Defence has signed a framework agreement for the delivery of over 4,300 pistols for the Army, outgoing Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov said on Friday in response to a question in Parliament. At the request of the Land Forces Command, the Ministry of Defence conducted a public procurement procedure in 2024 for the acquisition of small arms by concluding framework agreements on six separate items, with one of them being 9x19 mm multi-shot pistol set.

The company that offered the lowest price will supply a 9x19 mm Springfield Armory Echelon 4.5 multi-shot pistol manufactured in Croatia. Zapryanov also said that the decision to appoint a contractor was not appealed, and that on September 29, 2025, a framework agreement was concluded for the supply of 4,327 pistols, with a term of 48 months, worth BGN 3,240,923 excluding VAT.
