BTA correspondent in Pleven Elina Kyurkchieva received the annual Severno Eho Award of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists and Pleven Municipality. The award ceremony took place at the BTA National Press Club here on Tuesday.
Kyurkchieva said that she accepted the award as a gesture towards her 20 years of work as a journalist and thanked the people who helped her get to this point in her career. She compared working at the news agency to a school and a challenge of the highest level. She wished herself and her colleagues more good news.
The award for professional achievements in the PR category was presented to the Public Relations and Media Department at the Pleven Regional History Museum.
The ceremony was attended by Pleven Regional Governor Martin Machev, Pleven Municipal Council Chair Ivan Malkodanski, Pleven Mayor Valentin Hristov and Deputy Mayor Elina Dimitrova.
The award is named after the weekly publication Severno Eho, considered by local historians to be one of the most influential newspapers published in Pleven between 1921 and 1944.
