site.bta3.5-Magnitude Quake Registered near Southwest Town of Simitli, No Damage Reported
An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was registered 13.3 km from the southwestern town of Simitli at 4:48 p.m. on Monday, the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NIGGG-BAS) reported on Monday. The quake was epicentred 15 km from Blagoevgrad, where it was felt lightly by locals, and 90 km from the capital.
Blagoevgrad Regional Governor Georgi Dinev told BTA no damage has been reported. In his words, the epicentre was the village of Gabrovo, Blagoevgrad Municipality.
