EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen will visit Bulgaria on October 28 for talks related to the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor, the European Commission announced on Friday. He will also visit Romania on October 27.
He will hold meetings with ministers from the countries involved in the project, which aims to increase energy security and diversify gas supplies in Central and Southeastern Europe, and visit the facilities under construction.
The Vertical Gas Corridor is an initiative of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Moldova. Its construction is supported by the EC. Two projects have been developed to increase south-north gas transmission capacities (including liquefied gas) from Greece through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova, with the possibility of reaching Ukraine.
