Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic announced that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the European People's Party (EPP) have good communication, according to Serbian media. When asked about the announced discussion regarding the possible expulsion of SNS from the EPP, Brnabic said she had held several conversations in recent days and that there had been no problems.
Earlier today, the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabic met with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola to discuss parliamentary cooperation and Serbia’s further path toward European integration. “It was a good, excellent, open meeting, and we are moving forward,” Brnabic said at a press conference, adding that such a dialogue is important for Serbia on its European path.
She also stated that at the Serbian mission in Brussels, she would speak about the situation in Serbia and the “terror carried out by those participating in blockades over the past ten months.”
Brnabic added that Roberta Metsola informed her that European Green parties disapproved of the way President Aleksandar Vucic addressed a Member of the European Parliament. “I said that MEPs need to understand that it is inappropriate to attend unregistered gatherings as guests in our country,” Ana Brnabic added, referring to Vucic’s comments on September 5, in which he called MEPs who attended an anti-government protest in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad “scum” and “the lowest scum.”
On September 5 in Novi Sad, clashes occurred between protesters and the police, which led to unrest and arrests.
