Romania's presidential candidate from the New Romania party, Sebastian Popescu, appeared Sunday afternoon at a polling station organised at the Rectorate of the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest, but was not allowed to vote, he announced himself in a video published on his official Facebook profile.

"Who has something against me? Why are you punishing me so that I cannot exercise my right to vote?" asks Popescu in the video.

He further says that he voted in the same polling station in the 2019 elections and in the 2024 elections when he ran for the post again, but this time they did not allow him to vote on the grounds that he could exercise his right to vote at the address on his ID card. Sebastian Popescu is originally from the town of Balsh in southern Romania (Olt County).

Sebastian Popescu is the leader of the New Romania party, which he founded in 2015. He also ran in the 2024 presidential elections, winning 0.15% or 14,683 votes in the first round. In the 2019 elections, he received 0.33% of the vote. His priority is the reunification of Romania with the Republic of Moldova and the return of the Romanian state treasure from Russia.
