site.btaBulgaria Takes Over Chairmanship of Regional Aeronautical Search and Rescue Advisory Committee in 2024

Bulgaria will be chairing the Regional Aeronautical Search and Rescue Advisory Committee (RASARAC) in 2024. The Directorate General Civil Aviation Administration took over the rotating chairmanship of the Committee from North Macedonia on Thursday, Bulgaria's Ministry of Transport and Communications reported.

Within the framework of the chairmanship, meetings of the Board and expert working groups are to be held to address issues related to cross-border cooperation, operational procedures and agreements, training and preparation, as well as search and rescue oversight.

RASARAC is an inter-Balkan committee aiming to formalize, standardize and improve regional cooperation for more efficient conduct of international search and rescue operations in aviation accidents. Bulgaria joined the Committee in 2021. RASARAC includes the national authorities responsible for aviation search and rescue of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia and Slovenia.
