Parliament Chairs of Bulgaria and North Macedonia, Rosen Zhelyazkov and Talat Xhaferi, opened the exhibition "Silver Thrace" at the Archaeological Museum in Skopje. This is the first Bulgarian archaeological exhibition in more than 30 years to be presented in the Republic of North Macedonia, the press centre of the National Assembly said on Tuesday.

The message of the exhibition is that common history makes our region more united, stronger and more attractive, Rosen Zhelyazkov stressed. He thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristo Popov and Dr. Slavitsa Babamova for their desire and efforts to build bridges through the power of historical knowledge. “This exposition is a fact thanks to the mutual work of more than 60 other specialists from both countries and they give us an inspiring example of good neighbourliness, constructive cultural cooperation, and unwavering aspiration for a common European future,” Zhelyazkov added.

The exhibition is a wonderful proof of the two countries' common will for cultural cooperation, Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev said at the opening, adding that material cultural heritage plays a significant role in preserving and promoting European culture and art.

The exposition is organised by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and it presents 1,700 exhibits from 18 Bulgarian national, regional and municipal museums, which showcase Thracian culture with a focus on silver and its use in Thrace during the ancient era. The exhibition is supported by the Ministries of Culture of both countries.
