site.btaInternational Scientific Conference Takes Place in Vidin


The fifth international conference "Modernization trends in the economic and cultural life in Vidin and Timok Valley (18th - 20th century)" is held in Vidin, Svetlana Krasteva, head of State Archives of Vidin, told BTA on Friday. This is the first event at the Jules Pasquin cultural centre in the city after its opening in early September.
Archivists and researchers from Bulgaria and Serbia are presenting 19 scientific papers in two days. The speakers are scholars from the Oriental Collections Department of the St. Cyril and St. Methodius National Library, the Institute of Art Studies with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, Birkbeck College, University of London, historians from the country, archivists from the archives in Zajecar and Pozarevac (Serbia), the State Archives Agency and the State Archives of Vidin.
So far, the State Archives of Vidin agency has held four scientific conferences on the same topic, which were attended by representatives of the academic community, scientists, and archivists from Bulgaria, Serbia and Russia. The materials of the conferences have been published in collections, Krusteva also said.
