The Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia has refused to consider the motion of the opposition Levica party demanding that the statute and programme of the Ivan Mihailov Cultural Centre Association in Bitola be revoked. The Levica turned to the Constitutional Court in the country, claiming that the documents of the Ivan Mihailov Cultural Centre lead to incitement of national or religious hatred.
The decision of the magistrates was based on the fact that the Association was expunged from the Central Register and no longer exists as a legal person, the Constitutional Court said.
In November 2022, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia opened two cases: one on an appeal of the Levica against the Ivan Mihailov Cultural Club and another related to the documents of the King Boris III Association in Ohrid, at the request of a North Macedonia lawyer. The lawyer challenges the documents with the claim that they "unconstitutional because they are aimed at violently destroying the constitutional order, denying and obstructing the free expression of the national identity of the Macedonian people and inciting national hatred and intolerance".
