North Macedonia's Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said the lack of a political government in Bulgaria in the last two years had been an aggravating factor in Skopje-Sofia relations because Skopje had no political partner for negotiations on certain matters, and in such cases conservative and radical elements dictate the narrative. This is what happened to the Republic of North Macedonia and Bulgaria, and these conservative and radical elements led to an escalation of relations.

He expressed a hope that after the April 2 parliamentary elections, Bulgaria would have a political government so that talks on ways to continue cooperation in various sectors could start.

Osmani talked to the media after participating in tree planting in Skopje's Parc de la Francophonie along with French Ambassador Cyrille Baumgartner, ambassadors of the Member States of L'Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie in Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Switzerland, the honorary consuls of Belgium and Canada, and Goran Gerasimovski, Mayor of Skopje's Municipality of Centar.

This was the closing event of the Francophonie month in North Macedonia.
