site.btaForeign Minister Milkov: Skopje Will Begin EU Accession Talks When Bulgarians Are Included in Constitution

Bulgaria will not impose a veto the start of the Republic of North Macedonia's EU accession negotiations, because that would not be necessary, said here Friday caretaker Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov while reporting on his Ministry's work as part of the caretaker Government. "They have not yet started negotiations," he said, referring to Skopje.
"There are clear criteria - negotiations will start when they include the Bulgarians in the Constitution. Then, we can start considering the extent to which they meet the criteria. This is not necessary at the moment, as they have a clear condition, which is a European one, and has been ratified by our Parliament and adopted by their Parliament," he said, adding that tensions are created in North Macedonia precisely over this condition.
