Prime Minister Rumen Radev discussed attacks on Black Sea merchant ships with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan by telephone, the government press service said on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Radev said there had been further drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea. One vessel was hit by three aerial drones 18 miles east of Byala. Another was struck 17 miles east of Krapets and sank.

The two prime ministers stressed the need for even closer cooperation among Bulgaria, Romania and Turkiye to ensure regional security and safe navigation.

Radev also noted EU and NATO support for efforts to establish the circumstances of the attacks and strengthen air and maritime surveillance and control capabilities. The support was expressed during his calls earlier on Tuesday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
