Forest Week has been marked in Bulgaria at the start of April for 100 years now. It is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and by the Forestry Agency to raise awareness of forests' importance and get people involved in reforestation activities.

On April 12, 1925, Reforestation Day was celebrated for the first time under the auspices of the Ministry of People's Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and State Estates at the time. A total of 420,000 forest saplings and 20 kg forest seeds were planted. A year later, this number increased to 3,120,000 saplings and 208 kg seeds.

In 1934, Reforestation Day was renamed Forest Week, held from April 15 to 22, show data in BTA's archives.

This year, Forest Weeks takes place from April 7 to 13. It is marked by various events across Bulgaria.
