site.btaContinue the Change: "Borissov Caved In to Peevski"
The leader of the opposition Continue the Change party, Assen Vassilev, commented Friday that GERB Chair Boyko Borissov has completely surrendered to MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski. Vassilev went on social media with his reaction to a statement by Borissov that he would be seeking official support from Peevski in the incumbent coalition cabinet. Peevski's party backs the incumbent GERB-led minority government even though it nominally not part of the ruling three-party coalition.
Vassilev wrote on Facebook: "In his 25-minute one-man show, Boyko Borissov surrendered to Delyan Peevski by saying, 'I know that when I ask him for something, he respects it, and when he asks me to do something, I follow through'."
Borissov's remarks came after a meeting of his party's top leadership with GERB mayors, MPs, government ministers and local coordinators. Borissov also said: "Peevski should be spoken to directly, face to face. The others - those who want this to happen, or don’t - should come up with another option. I have no other option. I sincerely hoped CC-DB would propose one - but they didn't. If TISP and BSP [the other parties in the power-sharing coalition] are okay with it, invite them and talk. If not - we won't do it alone."
