Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov conferred on Thursday with the ambassadors of European Union member states to discuss Bulgaria’s planned adoption of the euro at the beginning of 2026, the government’s key priorities, and the benefits of Bulgaria’s full membership in the Schengen Area, the Council of Ministers said in a press release.

The meeting was hosted by Denmark’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Flemming Stender, whose country holds the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2025.

Addressing the ambassadors, PM Zhelyazkov outlined Bulgaria’s positions on leading issues on the European and international agenda. The discussion also covered the current political situation in the country.

In late September, National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova also met with heads of diplomatic missions in Bulgaria. In the context of today’s complex geopolitical environment, she emphasized that Bulgaria remains a constructive, predictable, and reliable partner in achieving the European Union’s goals.
