The Folk Music Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) will open the new concert season with a programme of premiere performances on October 16th in the First Studio of the radio.

Under the baton of maestro Dimitar Hristov, the ensemble will perform for the first time works that were specially composed for it and have already been recorded for the radio’s archive.

The soloists of the ensemble are: kaval player Georgi Dobrev with the premiere of "Plovdiv Melodies", tambura player Petar Milanov with "Thracian Melodies for Tambura with Dedication", as well as three gadulka players - Borislav Galabov with "Pazardzhik Tunes", Simeon Iliev with the concert piece for gadulka "Melodies from Thrace", and Hristina Beleva with "Esekiyska Fire".

Three chamber ensembles from the orchestra will also perform: the trio of kaval player Nedyalko Nedyalkov, gadulka player Martin Vladimirov, and tambura player Petar Milanov; the trio of gadulka player Biser Sokolov, kaval player Kostadin Genchev, and guitarist Hristiyan Tsvyatkov; and the quartet of kaval player Georgi Dobrev, gadulka player Borislav Galabov, guitarist Hristiyan Tsvyatkov, and tupan drummer Kaloyan Minchev.

Also performing will be singers Vesela Porcheva and Polina Porumova, clarinetist Mladen Malakov, and accordionist Petar Gochev - all presenting their own premiere performances.

The arrangements are by Dimitar Hristov, Kostadin Genchev, Borislav Zgurovski, Borislav Galabov, Angel Dobrev, and Martin Vladimirov.
