Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on Monday congratulated Moldovan President Maia Sandu on the outcome of the parliamentary elections in her country in a post on the X platform.
“Warm congratulations to President Maia Sandu on her decisive victory. Moldova has clearly and firmly chosen its European path. Bulgaria will continue to support our friends in this important process toward a shared European future,” Zhelyazkov wrote.
In the parliamentary elections on September 28, the pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity won over 50% of the votes, based on 99.91% of tally sheets, Moldova's Central Electoral Commission said on Monday. Local media commented that the citizens of Moldova voted strategically and confirmed their country's European path.
At a press conference after the elections, Sandu said that the results of Moldova’s elections demonstrate strong domestic support for the country’s EU accession. “I am glad that our path to the EU is secured. I truly want Moldovans to decide the future of Moldova. I want Moldova to be a free and democratic country,” Sandu said.
