During a festive session of the Sofia Municipal Council on the occasion of Sofia Day, Mayor Vasil Terziev delivered a message for shared values as the foundation of a good society. "Today’s holiday is very special because it celebrates four core values – faith, hope, love, and wisdom. I hope that each of us carries these values into the decisions we make every day," said Terziev in his address.
The occasion will be marked with over 50 events across the capital city on Wednesday.
The mayor stressed that these values are not just symbolic but should guide the everyday actions of both citizens and institutions.
"We are entrusted with the responsibility to be wise in the decisions we make – to make them with love, with faith that together we can achieve more, and with hope that we will leave a better city for our children," said Terziev. According to him, these principles apply to everyone living in Sofia and how they perceive their individual role in the city’s progress.
"I hope each of us remembers how important our role is and that we act with love, creativity, and care. Let’s remind ourselves that together, we can build much more." The mayor also noted that values are best instilled through strong examples, which is why Sofia Day is particularly meaningful.
"Today, we are honoring people whose actions have demonstrated what the role models of our society should be – people we want to emulate, people we want to become."
He announced that individuals from various age groups and fields – science, culture, sports – would be recognized for their contributions.
"All of them are outstanding examples of these values," the Mayor said.
