With the new management of the Varna water utility, a technical solution will be found to cut off the water supply to buildings constructed illegally in the Baba Alino locality, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Shishkov said in Varna, on the Black Sea, on Monday.
Shishkov inspected on site what he described as an "illegal town" uncovered in the locality. He was accompanied by Varna Regional Directorate for National Construction Control Director Kiril Moskov and Regional Governor Mario Smarkov. Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev also arrived at the site.
"A technical solution has to be found. Most likely, the current manager of the water utility does not want to do it," the Minister said. According to him, legal manoeuvres are being used to prevent the court from registering the new management. "As Regional Development Minister, I had a similar case in Burgas. I hope the court will not be so active in obstructing [the process]," Shishkov said.
In late July, Mihail Marinov was elected to take over the management of the Varna water utility from Veselin Rusev, but the changes have yet to be entered in the Commercial Register.
Regarding the electricity supply to the illegal buildings, Shishkov said the authorities would call on the private utility company to help ensure that the law is upheld by finding a technical solution.
The Minister was adamant that the State would not stand idly by and would not plead with anyone. A way will be found to cut off the electricity supply to the buildings that have been constructed illegally, Shishkov said.
