site.btaYes, Bulgaria Co-chair Mirchev: Latest No-Confidence Motion Is on Issues Not Covered in Previous Motions

There has not been a motion of no confidence in the Government before on the issues raised in the latest one, and there is no repetition in the reasoning itself, Ivaylo Mirchev, Co-chair of Yes, Bulgaria and MP of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) said on the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday. He was reacting to Saturday's comment by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov that the motion, submitted on September 12 over "failure of internal order and security, justice, and state capture", largely repeats previous motions.
The latest - fifth - motion of no confidence in the Zhelyazkov Cabinet was submitted by MPs of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh).
According to Mirchev, the Prime Minister is trying to downplay the motion's reasoning also with his criticism that it refers to cases in the pre-trial or trial phase. According to Mirchev, the public phase of these cases is crucial given the extremely low level of trust in institutions, including the Ministry of Interior.
In response to the Prime Minister, Michev clarified that the reasons for the motion were not copied, but were quotes from the European Commission's report on the rule of law in Bulgaria, which do not refer only to 2024 but also to 2025, with the reasoning stating that the Government is not taking any action on these recommendations.
According to the Co-chair of Yes, Bulgaria, which is one of the parties in the CC - DB coalition, there will be no early parliamentary elections, but not because the reasoning for the no-confidence motion is weak.
