The Health Ministers of Bulgaria and Montenegro, Silvi Kirilov and Vojislav Simun discussed bilateral cooperation on Monday, according to the Bulgarian Health Ministry press centre.
Simun highlighted the path Montenegro should follow on its way to European Union accession, noting that he relies on the Bulgarian Health Ministry's support, especially for the implementation of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in Montenegro. Minister Kirilov spoke of the potential for enhanced cooperation between the two ministries in areas of mutual interest, adding that collaboration should not be limited solely to the provisions of the existing Memorandum of Understanding. As to the EHIC, Kirilov noted that specific proposals to amend the bilateral agreement on social security have to be submitted.
Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue and committed to continuing discussions with the aim of delivering tangible results.
Kirilov is part of the Bulgarian delegation led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, currently on a two-day visit to Montenegro. The delegation also includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov and Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh.
