site.btaTourism Minister Highlights Growth Potential of Pilgrimage Tourism in Bulgaria

The Ministry of Tourism has been focused on pilgrimage tourism since the beginning of the year, Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh said during parliamentary control on Friday. He noted that this type of tourism is not only an important addition to Bulgaria’s overall tourism profile and a globally recognized segment, but also an area in which Bulgaria has much to offer.

The Minister said: “Over the past several months, through an active, precise, and, hopefully, adequate policy, the Ministry has succeeded in uniting the efforts of stakeholders in the sector, including the Holy Synod and other religious denominations,” Borshosh said. On that basis, the Ministry organized the first large-scale national conference dedicated to religious tourism, where the visions of all interested parties were presented, he added.

Borshosh also highlighted the almanac Pilgrimage Tourism in Bulgaria, issued in both Bulgarian and English, which he described as the first of its kind to include Christian pilgrimage routes in the country.
