Two Bulgarian nationals were successfully evacuated from Iran following sustained efforts by the Bulgarian diplomatic team in Tehran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
The pair crossed the Iran-Azerbaijan border with support from embassy staff and are now in Azerbaijan en route to Bulgaria.
The Ministry thanked the entire team at the Bulgarian Embassy in Tehran for their professionalism, commitment, and prompt response in a challenging operational setting. It also expressed appreciation to partner institutions in the region for their cooperation and support during the evacuation.
The Foreign Ministry maintains regular communication with Bulgarian nationals and their families and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Bulgarian citizens abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assisted Bulgarians leaving Iran and is arranging evacuations from Israel, with 89 Bulgarians among 148 people arriving in Sofia on Wednesday. The ministry urges nationals in affected areas to stay in touch with embassies and register online.
