Revenue from overnight stays in April 2025 increased by 17.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached BGN 100.6 million, with BGN 61 million coming from Bulgarians and BGN 39.6 million from foreign citizens, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said.
A NSI report shows that in the same month of 2024, revenue from overnight stays was BGN 85.6 million, or 11.6% more compared to April 2023.
In April 2025, the total number of overnight stays was 1,075,400, or 6.2% more compared to a year earlier. Bulgarian citizens spent 718,400 nights, and foreigners - 357,000 nights. The number of people who spent the night increased by 5.4% compared to the same month in 2024 and reached 507,800, with a 23.1% increase in foreign citizens, and a 0.8% decrease in Bulgarian visitors.
The number of nights spent in April 2024 was 1,012,400, or 2% less compared to a year earlier, and the number of people who spent the night in accommodation facilities increased by 2.3% to 481,900, according to NSI data.
In April 2025, there were 2,362 operating establishments in the country with 10 or more beds, including hotels, motels, campsites, chalets and other places for short-term accommodation, with a total of 73,400 rooms and 155,700 beds. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of places for accommodation increased by 4.2%, and the number of beds, by 8.4%.
A 2024 NSI shows that 2,267 short-term accommodation establishments operated in the country, with 68,500 rooms and 143,600 beds. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of places for accommodation increased by 1.3%, and the number of beds decreased by 0.5%.
