Burgas Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov said the issue of water supply in the Burgas region has been resolved during the BG Tourism – Summer 2025 forum organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Pomorie on Sunday.
Krumov noted that many longstanding issues have already been addressed, including water supply. Major water mains have been replaced, the wastewater treatment plant at Yasna Polyana reservoir will enter into operation from June 3-4, the reservoirs are full, including Kamchia reservoir. He said there will be water in the region even if not a single drop falls over the next two years. Krumov added that work is underway for Varna to have an alternative water source, and Kamchia reservoir will supply exclusively the Burgas region.
Krumov said that emergency repair teams of the water utility are being increased for the summer so they can respond as quickly as possible to breakdowns, ensuring tourists do not run out of water.
He mentioned intensive collaboration with the media, who are kept well informed. “There are satellite images, Border Police work daily, there are drones with a large range monitoring not just migrants but water quality as well,” he said.
Krumov described the Burgas region as the country’s largest by area, and highlighted that, beyond beaches, it offers two beautiful mountains as alternatives for other types of tourism. “Come to Strandzha for eco-trails, to Stara Planina for wine tourism, to Burgas for culture tourism, Pomorie and so on,” he added.
Krumov said the Road Infrastructure Agency has assured him that everything will be open by the end of June, meaning tourists will be able to travel smoothly and quickly.
"There are many other issues that need to be addressed in the right way so we can resolve them. To promote our coastal and tourism sector abroad effectively, we all need to work together—government, local authorities, media, businesses, and the public. We are collaborating to improve the image of our seashore," Krumov said.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) organized the BG TOURISM – SUMMER 2025 forum in Pomorie on Sunday. This is the seventh edition of BTA’s initiative, which hosts such forums twice a year—at the start of the summer and winter seasons—to discuss tourism messaging for the upcoming season with representatives from State and municipal institutions, the tourism industry, NGOs, academics and experts.
