site.btaState Institute for Culture Marks 20th Anniversary


The State Institute for Culture (SIC) with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated its 20th anniversary on Thursday with a special event at Sofia’s Toplocentrala Centre for Contemporary Art.
During the celebration, special plaques were awarded on behalf of the Institute as a token of gratitude and appreciation to individuals and institutions that have collaborated with the SIC over the years. The first distinction was presented to Solomon Passy, former foreign minister, whose initiative led to the establishment of the State Institute for Culture in 2005.
Other honourees included Szandra Miskedi, Director of the Liszt Institute Sofia; Ambassador Plamen Bonchev; Prof. Dr. Rumen Boyadjiev, Deputy Director of the Prof. Ivan Duychev Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies at St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia; Ivan Vasilev, Executive Director of the Balkan Heritage Foundation; Prof. Bozhidar Yonov, President of the Organizing Committee of the International Triennial of Stage Poster; Martichka Bozhilova, Director of the Balkan Documentary Centre; Gergina Dvoretzka, Chair of the Europe and the World Foundation; and Zelma Almaleh, Director of the Vapreki Foundation.
For their active media partnership, awards were also presented to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
