Hiking in the mountains is not recommended on Thursday, the Mountain Rescue Service with the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA. The weather is cold, cloudy, foggy, with showers expected in the afternoon; it will snow at an altitude of 2,000 meters and over.

Temperatures range from 0C to 8C in mountain resorts.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts rain and snow showers in the mountains, with moderate to strong northwesterly wind and highs of 12C at 1,200 metres and 5C at 2,000 metres.
