Plans to compensate public transport cardholders for the recent disruptions are being developed after a proposal from the Urban Mobility Center, said Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev on Friday during the opening of a newly expanded kindergarten in the Lozenets borough.

The Mayor also stated that there will be no surface public transport over the weekend, but the underground railway system (metro) will continue to operate. "There is an invitation to the unions for [a meeting on] Monday, but my condition is clear - public transport must be restored, and Sofia residents should not bear the cost of when we manage to meet," Terziev said in response to a question about negotiations with the trade unions.

Surface public transport in Sofia remained on strike for a third day in a row on Friday under the slogan "Decent Work – Decent Pay! No Transport, No Economy!”, while the metro has been running more frequently, with shorter intervals and more trains.
