Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov told journalists that seven pre-trial proceedings have so far been initiated over violations of citizens’ electoral rights.

“There are many conspiracies, speculations and noise being introduced into the system with the aim of diverting the attention of the caretaker government and the Ministry of Interior,” he said. The government’s main goal is to hold elections in accordance with the rules, he added, noting that the authorities are working with a well-developed data system, including a geographic information system containing information about high-risk polling stations.

Earlier this week, Sofia's police chief Lyubomir Nikolov said more than ten expedited pre-trial proceedings related to the snap parliamentary elections had been launched. He added that all cases have been reported to the prosecution service and work on them is ongoing.
