Continue the Change Co-chair Kiril Petkov expressed his condolences on the death of Pope Francis in a Facebook post on Monday.

Petkov recalled words from their meeting, when the Pope told him that corruption is a disease that eats away at the fabric of society.

Petkov said that Pope Francis ordered him to continue fighting.

"Do not fight all the battles at once: it will be difficult to defeat the corrupt in Bulgaria and the external forces that want to hinder you. Fight these battles one by one. Spend more time among the people in the markets, they will give you strength," said Pope Francis to the then-prime minister Petkov in 2022. 

The death of Pope Francis was announced by the Vatican in a video message earlier on Monday.
