The Industrial Production Index decreased by 0.7% in February 2025 compared to the previous month, according to preliminary and seasonally adjusted data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI), released on Thursday. In comparison with February 2024, a decrease of 4.6% was registered in the calendar-adjusted Industrial Production Index.
In February 2024, the index remained unchanged compared to the previous month, while on a year-on-year basis, it showed a decrease of 8.3%.
In February 2025, compared to the previous month, a 6.3% decrease was seen in the mining and quarrying industry, and in the manufacturing (2.7%), while a 3.5% rise was registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply. In February 2024, month-on-month, a decrease was recorded in the mining industry by 9.8%, in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas by 0.8%, while a 2.9% increase was observed in the manufacturing industry.
On an annual basis, a decrease of the Industrial Production Index was observed in manufacturing (7.1%), in the mining and quarrying industry (1.8%), while a rise was registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (11.2%). Year-on-year, February 2024 saw a 20.8% decline in the mining industry, 20.7% drop in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas, and 3.3% decrease in the manufacturing industry.
