site.btaCourt Orders Pre-Trial Detention for Indicted Businessman Rumen Gaytanski

The prosecution service told BTA here on Friday that recently indicted businessman Rumen Gaytanski has been detained for 72 hours. The businessman has turned himself in voluntarily in the presence of a lawywer.

Georgiev was charged as aide in the embezzlement on Thursday.

The Sofia City Prosecution Service has gathered evidence to charge three individuals in a case for a non-performing loan of some BGN 150 million from the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB), deputy city prosecutors Desislava Petrova and Deyan Zahariev

The Bureau for Investigative Reporting and Data (BIRD.bg) said in July that proceedings were initiated on an alert about crimes in the granting and use of a loan of BGN 150 million to a company related to Rumen "the Wolf" Gaytanski. The loan agreement was signed on June 17, 2019 between BDB and Roadway Construction AD. The Sofia City Prosecution Office terminated the proceedings in May 2023. The Bulgarian Development Bank missed the deadline to appeal against the termination of the criminal proceedings, BIRD.bg said.
