The exhibition The Bulgarian Message from Bessarabia by father-daughter duo and contemporary Bulgarian artists in Ukraine Ivan and Zlata Shyshman opened on Tuesday, October 29, in the Marble Lobby of the National Assembly in Sofia. The event was organized at the initiative of Toshko Yordanov, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media.
The exhibition presents works inspired by the cultural and historical ties between Bulgaria and the Bulgarian community in Bessarabia. Through their art, the authors explore themes of memory, identity, and the spiritual heritage of the Bessarabian Bulgarians.
Earlier, on October 27, the same exhibition opened the Bulgarian Culture Week in Odesa, Ukraine, hosted at the Odesa City Council. The weeklong celebration, dedicated to the Day of the Bessarabian Bulgarians, runs from October 27 to November 1 across Odesa and the region. Organizers of the multicultural international event include the Department for International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing of the Odesa City Council, the Bulgarian Consulate-General in Odesa, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), and the Odesa City Musical Theatre.
