Culture Ministry to Host Single National Cultural Heritage Platform International Workshop

Over 100 experts from different fields,  including cultural heritage, technologists and researchers will hold the 2nd international strategic planning workshop for the single national cultural heritage platform on April 11 and 12 at the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry said here on Wednesday.

The event is part of an investment in digitization of museum collections, libraries and archives from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. 

The Workshop participants include Victor Stoyanov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Milena Popova, Business Development Manager at Europeana and Milena Dobreva, PhD, Europeana Board Member.

Directors of libraries, museums, galleries and archives, specialists in the field of cultural heritage and information technology, as well as researchers, active users and participants in the promotion of Bulgarian heritage at home and abroad are invited to participate.

The workshop is a joint initiative of the national cooperation group and the Europeana Network Association. The initiative is held under the auspices of the "TWIN! IT!" campaign of the European Commission and Europeana, which brings together the ministries of culture of EU Member States to collect and showcase iconic and high-quality examples of European cultural heritage in 3D format.

Special attention will be paid to the digitization of the archive of the Bulgarian News Agency, the experience of the Bulgarian National Film Library and the Bulgarian National Radio. 

Performing and musical arts will also be in focus.

The highlights include technological innovations, such as three-dimensional laser scanning, ontologies and knowledge graphs, software tools for representing collections as data, such as improving OCR, searching collections with different spellings from the 19th-21st centuries, improving image quality.
