A forum entitled "Young People and Europe: #UseYourVote" opened in Sofia on Monday. It is organized by the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria and is held under the auspices of the parliamentary Committee on the European Union Affairs, the Schengen Area and the Еuro Area.
The Committee's Deputy Chair Denitsa Simeonova MP of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria said in her address at the opening: "The voice of young people in Europe matters very much. The fact that the Bulgarian Parliament is hosting this event shows that it is open to hearing the ideas and suggestions of young Bulgarians and is ready to involve them in the debate on the future of Europe."
"We have the unique chance to live in the world's largest peace project and to enjoy the advantages this membership gives us. The European Parliament elections are a responsibility for you as Bulgarian voters to choose and chart the EU's future," Simeonova said.
More than 160 participants can meet with MPs of the parliamentary Committee on the EU Affairs and with Bulgarian MEPs Andrey Kovatchev (European People's Party/GERB), Petar Vitanov (S&D/BSP), Atidzhe Alieva-Veli (Renew Europe/MRF) and Angel Dzhambazki (European Conservatives and Reformists/VMRO). Every participant can join two workshops on topics including civic engagement and youth participation, democracy, the future of Europe, misinformation, and waste reduction.
The venue is the historic building of the Bulgarian National Assembly.
