Outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov Thursday conferred with visiting NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Gen. Philippe Lavigne, the press service of the Council of Ministers said. The two officials discussed digital transformation, innovation and the development of artificial intelligence for defence and security purposes.
In the course of the meeting Denkov highlighted the consistent and ambitious policy of the Bulgarian government to modernise the Bulgarian Armed Forces. According to him, it is necessary to plan investments in the security and defence sector in the long term so that they are relevant in the next 10 or 15 years.
Bulgaria's contribution to NATO and the security of the Eastern flank were also discussed. Denkov highlighted the need for better transport, digital and infrastructure connectivity in the region, which will contribute to greater mobility and more security.
