Draft amendments to the Spatial Development Act, that were tabled in Parliament on Friday by a group of MPs of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) including Bozhidan Bozhanov and Yordan Terziiski, would scrap terms like "paper form" and "seal impression' and would digitize development-project design and spatial planning processes, the coalition said in a press release.

According to Bozhanov, who is a former minister of electronic governance, the proposed revisions would facilitate all participants in the process, would reduce the administrative burden, and would enable a roll-back of corruption practices.

"The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works is to start building the Single Register of Spatial Development, for which we ensured financing under the Recovery and Resilience Plan two years ago. This bill provides the legal basis for the register to cover all activities comprehended in development-project design and spatial planning," he added.

The digitization and the ensuing easing and speeding up of administrative services in design and construction are expected to impact favourably investment processes in all spheres of economic life.
