Bulgarian Ambassador to Moldova Maya Dobreva met with newly elected Taraclia Mayor Ekaterina Yakobchak, the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau said on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Yakobchak presented her vision for the development of the town, which is predominantly populated by ethnic Bulgarians. Emphasis was placed on the need for more active work by the mayoral administration to attract investment aimed at improving the urban environment and the quality of life of residents.

The prospects for expanding cooperation between the mayor’s office and relevant institutions and partners in Bulgaria were also discussed, the diplomatic mission said.

On June 9, Yakobchak officially took office and received her mandate as Mayor. “I will be Mayor of all residents of Taraclia, regardless of their political views, beliefs and preferences. My door will be open to everyone who is ready to work honestly, professionally and for the benefit of the town,” she said.
